In October and November the climate can be very mild or very arctic. It is very difficult to know in advance, so it is safer to be prepared for a snowy weather with temperatures that can vary from +5°C to -20°C without the wind factor.

For this tour you have to be able to walk on uneven grounds. Most of the tour is made by motorized vehicles but it can happen that we have to carry the photo equipment on a few hundreds meter in fresh snow or icy surfaces to get the best view on wildlife. If you have any mobility issues, please contact us to discuss.

A travel insurance is required for your stay in Churchill in case of delay due to temperatures. Blizzards are very common at this time of the year and air travel can be affected. Additional costs due to schedule changes caused by temperatures are at your expense. That’s the main reason that we highly recommend you to subscribe to a travel insurance.

Polar Bear Experience

The schedule of each day will be flexible and adapted to the wishes of the group. We operate within 25 kilometers of the Hudson Bay coast between Churchill and the tundra vehicle area where the vast majority of tourists go. Our location consists of several secondary roads and beach trails. The concentration of bears is lower but the different variety of landscape, photographs taken at ground level and small groups, creates a unique and rewarding experience. The day usually starts with the sunrise until bedtime, from 8am to 4:30 pm with an hour off for lunch.

  • A 1-hour helicopter ride is included in the package. For the chance to discover the vast Arctic from the air and go to Cape Churchill.
  • A day may also be spent aboard a tundra vehicle for an extra $500. This provides a day of access to different resident bears and at a higher angle, it can provide very good photos with different angles.
